Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about Pastetory.
What is Pastetory?
Pastetory syncs your clipboard across all your devices instantly. Copy text, images, or files on one device and paste them on another — no cables, no email-to-self, no friction.
Is it free?
Pastetory offers a free tier that covers everyday clipboard sync. A paid plan is available for power users who need higher storage limits and additional features.
How is my data encrypted?
All data is encrypted in transit via HTTPS/TLS. Your snippets are stored in isolated, per-user encrypted bundles on AWS S3. Authentication uses industry-standard OAuth 2.0 with PKCE — your credentials never touch our servers directly.
What devices are supported?
Pastetory works on any device with a modern web browser — Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, and Android. If it runs Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Edge, it runs Pastetory.
Do I need to install an app?
No. Pastetory is a web app that runs entirely in your browser. There's nothing to download or install — just sign in and start syncing.
What file types can I share?
You can share text, rich HTML content, images (PNG, JPEG, GIF, WebP), and general files of any type. If you can copy it or drag it, Pastetory can sync it.
Is there a size limit?
Text snippets are limited to 1 MB per paste. Images and files are uploaded directly to S3 with no practical size limit (up to 5 GB per file). Thumbnails are generated client-side for fast previews.
Can I share with other people?
Pastetory is currently designed as a personal clipboard sync tool — your data is private to your account. Sharing features between users are on the roadmap.
What happens if I forget my passphrase?
You can reset your password through the standard account recovery flow via email. Your existing synced snippets remain intact since encryption is tied to your account, not a separate passphrase.
How do I delete my account?
Contact us at the email below and we'll remove your account and all associated data. A self-service deletion option is planned for a future release.
Where is my data stored?
All data is stored in AWS eu-west-1 (Ireland) using S3 with server-side encryption. Infrastructure is managed entirely within AWS with no third-party data processors.
Is Pastetory open source?
Not currently. Pastetory is a closed-source product. We may open-source components in the future, but for now the focus is on building a reliable, polished experience.
